This Mobile App, by Bivas Chatterjee, is informative and academic one on various provisions of Cyber Laws in India and designed and uploaded for academic purpose This App provides details of various provisions of Information Technology Act, 2000 as amended. It also contains various Amended provisions of Indian Evidence Act, 1872 and Indian Penal Code, 1860 relating to electronic evidence which facilitate in dealing with electronic evidence.
Some safety points:
- Develop strong password including mixed letters, signs numbers etc. avoiding dictionary words.
- Mail attachments from unknown person should be avoided.
- Use strong antivirus software, also in mobile phone, regularly being updated.
- Look for accurate browser security settings.
- Always have a back-up of important data and critical information.
- Draft and enforce strong cyber security policy in your organisation.
- Have strong firewalls, pop-up blocker and spyware detector.
- Logout from various websites when not in use.
- Avoid online banking, e-shopping, etc.in unsecured area or unsecured Wi-fi zone.
- Don’t let anyone use your mobile phone or any devices.
- Be aware of free software or online lottery or free gifts.
- Preserve malicious email etc. so that it can be supplied to the law enforcement agencies in any eventualities.
- Don’t divulge about your net-banking authentication details.
- Don’t share any information over phone or in any link.
- Do not supply personally unidentifiable information into unknown websites or virtual entities.
- Don’t send important, private and sensitive data through email.
- Look for sites starting url ‘https://’ rather than ‘http://’.
- Regularly update anti-virus software.
- Be careful watching obscene/pornographic images etc.
- Don’t sell or hand over your P.C., Laptop, mobile phone,etc. without formatting the data to anyone.
- Security pin code, screen lock, strong application password should be used in your mobile.
- In ATM centre be careful when you are withdrawing money and please log out before leaving the same.
